James Weatherley-Buss
Composer and multi-instrumentalist based in North-West England. I write music that is direct and immediate, prioritising tight focus and clear communication of ideas.
Performance credits include experimental improvisatory group UnHeard Ensemble, rock outfit Lizard and recording and performing as a founding member of the band Persian Hugs.
I attended the University of Liverpool for my undergraduate degree and at the Royal Northern College of Music for my master’s, where I was very fortunate to study with Larry Goves, Steven Daverson and Daniel Kidane, have pieces workshopped by the Psappha Ensemble and the Hallé orchestra and have masterclasses by composers such as Anna Meredith, George Lewis and Sally Beamish.
